Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s impressive journey to the runner-up position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), has clarified that he has not been approached by any clubs for a potential transfer. Despite swirling rumors of interest from teams like Queens Park Rangers, Union St Gilloise, and Al Ettifaq from the Saudi Arabia Professional Football scene, Nwabali confirms that no official offers have landed on his table.

In an exclusive interview with FARPost, Nwabali shared insights into the current state of affairs regarding his professional future. “You see, to be honest, I’ve never seen anything on my table ever since AFCON,” he disclosed, addressing the speculations head-on. The goalkeeper’s standout performance at AFCON 2023 had sparked discussions about a possible move, yet Nwabali underscores the absence of direct negotiations or contacts.

The protocol in football transfers requires clubs interested in a player to initiate talks with the player’s current team or manager rather than directly with the player. This ensures professionalism and adherence to the sport’s regulatory framework. “Maybe those clubs might have spoken to my team or my manager. But at this point, we can’t do anything,” Nwabali noted, emphasizing the procedural aspects of potential transfer dealings.

Nwabali remains open to possibilities that the future holds, suggesting that interest from clubs might still be under wraps, as strategies around transfers often involve a level of confidentiality until concrete steps are taken. “So, some people always keep it a secret, and when they get you, they get you once. For now, I know nothing,” he concluded, indicating his current lack of awareness regarding any firm offers or discussions.

As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Nwabali will attract formal offers from clubs looking to bolster their goalkeeping options with a proven talent who has shined on the continental stage.
