Secondus Claps Back At Wike: Labels Him “Nigeria’s Most Transactional Politician” The Hype Naija

Abuja, Nigeria – In a sharp retort to accusations leveled by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has hit back, labeling Wike as “Nigeria’s most transactional politician.” The fiery exchange underscores deepening rifts within the political landscape, particularly among PDP leaders in Rivers State.

During a media parley in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike castigated Secondus, Sekibo, and other PDP stalwarts from Rivers State as “expired politicians and buccaneers,” criticizing their support for Fubara amidst ongoing political tensions. Wike’s comments have sparked a significant backlash, highlighting the internal strife plaguing the party.

In a statement released on Wednesday through his Media Adviser, Mr. Ike Abonyi, Secondus fired back, accusing Wike of presenting “an exhibition of his well-known trait of being economical with the truth.” He charged Wike with propagating “half-truths and outright falsehoods” to manipulate public perception to his advantage. Secondus’s rebuttal paints a picture of a politician determined to counter what he perceives as slander with pointed criticism of his accuser’s integrity and political maneuverings.

Secondus went further, describing Wike as a “showman” known for his “double-speak and twisting of facts to score some cheap political points.” He expressed dismay over Wike’s portrayal of respected political figures in Rivers State, including himself, as “transactional politicians, political vampires, and political buccaneers,” viewing such characterizations as both appalling and unfortunate.

The verbal spar between Wike and Secondus underscores the escalating tension within the PDP, reflecting broader challenges faced by the party as it navigates internal conflicts and prepares for future electoral contests. This exchange is not just a personal feud but a manifestation of deeper ideological and strategic divisions within one of Nigeria’s leading political parties.
