Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday took to Instagram to lambast colleagues she accuses of two-faced behavior. The outspoken star’s post, which appeared at 3:15 PM WAT, called for an end to backstabbing and fake friendliness in the industry, igniting a fierce debate about professional ethics and personal integrity in Nollywood.

As the sun beat down on Lagos’s bustling film district, Nkechi Blessing’s Instagram notification lit up phones across the city. Her message was clear and unapologetic: “If you must quit something this year, quit the habit of spoiling people’s names at their back and shining your dirty teeth when you see them. Let it go with 2024 pls. Two-faced bastards.”

Nkechi’s statement touches on a long-standing issue in our industry,” Okonkwo explained during our phone interview. “The competitive nature of showbiz can sometimes bring out the worst in people. Her call for authenticity is both timely and necessary.

This isn’t the first time Nkechi has addressed the issue of backstabbing in Nollywood. In September 2023, she made headlines for reminding colleagues of “judgment day” in relation to badmouthing others to producers and directors.

To gain insight into Nkechi’s motivations, I spoke with entertainment journalist Yewande Adesina at a popular café in Lekki. “Nkechi has always been known for her outspokenness,” Adesina noted. “But this latest post seems to come from a place of genuine frustration with industry practices.”

As news of Nkechi’s post spread, reactions from fellow Nollywood personalities began to pour in. While many chose to remain silent, some voiced their support for her message.

Rising star Adebola Adeyemi commented on the post: “Truth! It’s time we started treating each other with real respect.” However, not all reactions were positive. An anonymous industry insider, speaking on condition of anonymity, questioned Nkechi’s motives: “Is she really calling for change, or just stirring up drama for attention?”

As night fell over Lagos, with the city’s iconic film posters illuminated by streetlights, Nkechi Blessing’s words lingered in the air like a challenge to the status quo. Her bold stance against two-faced behavior in Nollywood has not only sparked conversations about professional ethics but also raised questions about the nature of authenticity in an industry built on illusion.

Whether her call for change will lead to lasting transformation or fade into the background of Nollywood drama remains to be seen. One thing is certain: Nkechi Blessing has once again proven her willingness to speak truth to power, even at the risk of ruffling feathers in high places.
