Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a Nigerian Lecturer, is set to embark on a grueling challenge that could etch his name in the Guinness World Records history books. Akpan plans to deliver a non-stop lecture for an astonishing 150 hours, aiming to surpass the current record held by Indian Professor Arvin Mishra.
Scheduled to take place from September 23 to 30 at Foreign Links College in Moro, Osun State, the marathon lecture will focus on the critical relationship between man’s environment and health. Akpan, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, seeks to utilize this platform to educate students and the global community about the importance of environmental conservation and its impact on human well-being.
This is more than just a personal challenge,” Akpan explained. I want to use this opportunity to raise awareness about the pressing environmental issues facing our world and the consequences of neglecting our planet’s health.
The current record for the longest non-stop lecture is held by Professor Arvin Mishra, who delivered a 139-hour, 52-minute, and 42-second lecture in 2014. Akpan’s ambitious attempt will require unwavering physical and mental endurance, as well as meticulous planning and preparation.
To ensure success, Akpan has assembled a team of medical professionals to monitor his health throughout the lecture. He will also have access to a comfortable, well-equipped space to deliver his lecture.
The academic community and the general public are eagerly awaiting Akpan’s attempt. If successful, his feat will not only set a new world record but also highlight Nigeria’s contributions to academic excellence and environmental awareness.
