Federal aviation authorities have granted approval for the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport to begin non-scheduled flight operations, marking a significant milestone in the state’s aviation development. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s authorization allows the airport to handle private jets and chartered flights from December 15, 2024, through June 15, 2025.
Acting Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, conveyed the approval in a letter to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, specifying that operations must follow Visual Flight Rules during daylight hours, from sunrise to sunset. This interim approval represents a crucial step toward achieving full commercial flight operations at the facility.
The six-month authorization period serves multiple purposes, allowing NCAA to validate pending findings and giving the state government time to address outstanding corrective actions identified in recent inspections.
