The Lagos State Police Command has officially refuted reports alleging the re-arrest of Afro singer Ibrahim Owodunni, known professionally as Primeboy, in relation to the investigation surrounding the death of fellow artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Contrary to circulating rumors, the police clarified that Primeboy was not detained during his recent visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba.
Initial reports had suggested that Primeboy faced re-arrest on Tuesday while attending a routine visit at the SCID, where he has been reporting weekly since the investigation into Mohbad’s untimely death began. This narrative gained traction on social media and among news outlets, sparking widespread speculation about the case’s developments.
However, in a statement to THEHYPENAIJA, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, labeled these reports as unequivocally “false.” Hundeyin confirmed that Primeboy was, in fact, allowed to return home following his visit on Tuesday, with instructions to report back the following day, Wednesday. This clarification from the police aims to dispel any misinformation regarding Primeboy’s involvement and cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
This development underscores the sensitivity and complexity of high-profile cases involving public figures and the rapid spread of unverified information. The Lagos State Police Command’s quick response to correct the false reports reflects their commitment to transparency and accuracy in the handling of this case. As the investigation into Mohbad’s death continues, the police urge the public to rely on official statements for accurate updates.
