In a distressing development from Ogijo, Ogun State, police have apprehended Chizoke Obiadada, 54, and his son, Micheal Obiadada, 17, following the death of their neighbor’s wife, Tope Owoade. The incident, as detailed by SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, occurred last Thursday amidst a confrontation that turned deadly.
The altercation ignited when Tope Owoade objected to the Obiadadas sitting on a table she utilized for her business, leading to a heated exchange and subsequent physical assault. The situation escalated rapidly, resulting in Tope sustaining severe injuries from the assault, particularly distressing harm leading to significant bleeding.
Isiaka Owoade, the bereaved husband, reported to the Divisional Police Officer of Ogijo that his wife had relayed the events of the previous day upon his return from a journey. According to his account, the confrontation happened around 8:30 pm on March 28, 2024, when the father and son physically attacked Tope, causing grievous injuries after she requested they refrain from misusing her worktable, crucial for her livelihood selling “Pomo” (edible animal skin).
Despite desperate attempts to save her, including rushing her to Main Frame Private Hospital and Kunle Hospital Atan Agowa, both medical facilities were unable to admit her. Tragically, Tope Owoade succumbed to her injuries en route to a government hospital.
The incident has shocked the Ogijo community, underscoring the devastating impact of unchecked aggression and the importance of peaceful resolution methods. The Ogun State Police Command, through SP Omolola Odutola, affirmed their commitment to thoroughly investigating the incident and ensuring justice for Tope Owoade and her grieving family.
