A Story That Resonated
Shina follows the story of a former drug addict turned taxi driver who finds himself entangled in a dangerous web of crime. The film’s gritty realism, coupled with strong performances from a talented cast, including Timini Egbuson and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, has resonated with audiences both in Nigeria and internationally.
Adesokun believes that the film’s success can be attributed to its authenticity and relatability. “We wanted to tell a story that people could connect with on a personal level,” he says. The challenges faced by the protagonist, Shina, are similar to those experienced by many people in our society.
Overcoming Challenges
Despite the film’s success, Adesokun acknowledges the numerous challenges faced during the production process. Funding, technical limitations, and the pressure to deliver a quality product were among the obstacles he had to overcome.
Filmmaking in Nigeria is not without its challenges,” he says. “But I believe that with passion, determination, and a good story, you can overcome any obstacle.”
